CHEROKEE
Unto these hills
My heart flows forth . . .
Like their bountiful rushing streams.
Their awesome beauty
Engulfs my soul
Like sleep taken over by dreams.
Cradled deep,
In the hand of GOD
A “Psalmody of hills” they lie.
And in their midst
“Cherokee” their mystical smoke
Kisses the sky.
Entranced by
Nature’s cryptic spell,
Heaven surly bruised my eyes,
And “Cherokee”
Captivated my heart,
Where the great
Smoky Mountains rise . . .
